Bridal Breakdown: Desert Rose Palette

I love the opportunity to work on bridal parties here and there, especially when they involve my existing clients. When the chance to travel to the gorgeous destination of Palm Desert came up, I was sold. Based on my client’s style, accent colors, and setting, I designed a color scheme that would translate well on different skin tones, eye colors, hair colors, etc., to achieve a cohesive look between the bride and her maids. We had an early start time so the makeup had to be applied in light layers, using both creams and powders. Below are the results!

Jetset Diaries: Top picks for cosmetic travel bags

I recently had a client ask me for my recommendations on a good travel bag for her makeup. If there's one thing I've learned (and continue to learn), it's how to pack my products and tools efficiently. While I'd love to show up to a job or a vacation destination with my Rose Gold 'Slaycase' from Impressions Vanity, it's more of a show piece than a practicality so I use it for beauty events. I turn to lightweight luggage and soft cases that are more durable than their harder counterparts when heading to private clients and photoshoots, etc. But when it comes to my personal makeup kit, I've become a big fan of the following options when it's time to travel:

1. Esum Brush Book - The soft, yet structured case is the perfect size to store everything I need with ease. I actually use it in my pro kit as well. As you can see, all your brushes and items like mascaras, liners, lipgloss, etc. will fit on one side, while the zippered compartment holds palettes, and bulkier items.

2. Casper & Coal Signature Bucket Travel Cosmetic Bag - This is especially great for keeping items contained, yet visible, and also upright which means less chance of spills. It has elastic bands and mesh pockets inside the perimeter so your stuff stays organized. I actually use this on jobs when counter space is limited. It holds a personal record in my book for quickest cleanup! Just lift up the sides and pull the drawstring and you're good to go.

3. Skinny Dip Holo Glitter Makeup Roll - I love the playful design options this London-based line offers. I tend to bring a lot of products in stick form when I travel so this type of case fits everything from foundation to blush to eyeshadow and so on, and it's super compact which is especially great if I'm flying and don't want to check any bags. They do offer other size options in coordinating prints if you have larger products to store.

4. Henry Charles Large Deluxe Cosmetic Clutch - For anyone who is looking for a mix of design and function, this brand is perfect. The materials are luxe yet extremely user friendly with water resistant lining and the products are handmade for superior quality and performance. I love the pop of color too!

Love Those Lips: Pinks & Nudes

Every woman needs 3 shades in her lipstick arsenal to complete any makeup look: nude, pink and red. While I love myself a bold red lipstick, I've been on the hunt for a perfect nude as well as that ideal medium pink. Here are some of my latest finds that are on constant repeat for both myself and my clients:

1. Revlon "Enchanting" ColorBurst Matte Balm

The perfect amount of sheen equals healthy looking lips for beauties on a budget.

2. RMS Beauty Lip Shine in "Honest"

This gorgeous shade boasts plenty of pigment for an all-natural line.

3. Dose of Colors "Bare With Me"

A liquid lipstick that delivers a beautiful matte finish, especially perfect for medium skin tones.

4. Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Lipstick in "Coachella Coral"

Found! That pinky coral shade that immediately brightens your complexion.

5. Trust Fund Beauty Lipgasam in "Never Basic"

Fair to light skin tones will find this shade gives the perfect amount of definition and drama to the lips, especially when paired with a smokey eye.
